The Perfect Bratwurst Cooking Instructions:
- Place your bratwursts in a large pot and cover with liquid. Beer is the most traditional liquid used, but you can use beef broth or water. Include butter, onion and/or garlic to give the liquid some additional flavor. Do not fill your pot more than 3/4 of the way.
- Bring the liquid and brats to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer the brats for 10 minutes.
- Next, it’s time to brown the meat! Remove them from the liquid and wait for them to dry. You can brown the brats on a grill, under a broiler, or in a frying pan! Using your favorite method, on medium heat, cook the links for 3-4 minutes per side until the outside is browned. Do not use excessive heat to avoid having the casing crack open.
- Once brats are browned, they are ready to enjoy! Serve alone or in a bun with your favorite toppings.
