The Perfect Bratwurst Cooking Instructions:

  1. Place your bratwursts in a large pot and cover with liquid. Beer is the most traditional liquid used, but you can use beef broth or water. Include butter, onion and/or garlic to give the liquid some additional flavor. Do not fill your pot more than 3/4 of the way.
  2. Bring the liquid and brats to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer the brats for 10 minutes.
  3. Next, it’s time to brown the meat! Remove them from the liquid and wait for them to dry. You can brown the brats on a grill, under a broiler, or in a frying pan! Using your favorite method, on medium heat, cook the links for 3-4 minutes per side until the outside is browned. Do not use excessive heat to avoid having the casing crack open.
  4. Once brats are browned, they are ready to enjoy! Serve alone or in a bun with your favorite toppings.
